The National Honor Society is holding its annual candy cane fundraiser from Monday, December 10 to Thursday, December 13. The purchased candy canes will be delivered on Friday, December 14 to the first block classes. I talked with the National Honor Society member in charge of the candy cane fundraiser, Olivia Czechowski, and learned about the basic information that the students would need to know in order to prepare for the sale. Each candy cane is $1.00, and the current National Honor Society members will be selling the candy canes during 3A, 3B, and 3C lunches. The National Honor Society holds fundraisers, like the candy cane fundraiser, in order to raise money to support all the National Honor Society events that are held throughout the year. The next big fundraiser that the National Honor Society will be holding is the Senior Citizens’ Prom, which will be held in May of 2019. The Senior Citizens’ Prom is an event in which senior citizens from the Alden area can come to the Alden Senior High School cafeteria to enjoy music, dancing, and various activities. National Honor Society can hold events like the Senior Citizen Dance due to fundraising supported by the students. In addition to the candy cane fundraiser, National Honor Society also has a carnation sale around Valentine’s Day. Help support the National Honor Society by purchasing candy canes between December 10th and December 13th.
