On Friday November 30th and Saturday December 1st Alden High School held their very own Alden State Bank Tip Off tournament. The girls’ varsity and Jv basketball teams both played in the Tip Off tournament. The teams consisted of Alden, Chautauqua, Pembroke, and Akron. The Jv girls finished the tournament with in 3rd place. The Jv girls showed a lot of effort and had tough games in general. The Jv is led by captains Meghan Whiteford and Madison Abbot. They are both leaders and key factors to the team. Not only are they leaders on the court but they are also leaders off the court. They both are involved in extracurricular activities and are involved in many school events. The varsity girls finished the tournament in 4th place. Although it was not the outcome they hoped for, they all held their own and held up throughout the tournament. There was a lot of effort shown by the teams leaders Shelby Kersten, Allie Petschke, Jaime Bennett, Grace Pastuszynski, Emma Diebel , Maddy Gadd, and Caroline Wrest.  The JV and Varsity Girl’s first game was against Pembroke. They both lost so they both advanced to face Akron for their final game. The JV girls won their game against Akron but the varsity team unfortunately lost against them. The finals of the Alden State Bank Tournament were the teams Pembroke and Chautauqua. Pembroke took the win and won the tournament. Overall the Bulldogs showed a lot of effort throughout the tournament even though it was not the outcome they wanted.
