Wrestling ECIC’s

Luke Drew, Associate Producer

On December 14th and December 15th , the Alden wrestling team went to Starpoint for an ECIC tournament. Even though the results didn’t turn out how the wrestlers wanted to, they still tried their hardest and gave it everything they had. The wrestling team is led by the veteran wrestler Cole Kissell. Cole Kissell was a recent member for the athlete of the week. In the Jamestown JV Tournament, Cole took 1st place alongside with Ben Kron taking 2nd. Cole is a leader on the mat and off the mat. Cole is involved in many other activities and sports like soccer. Cole is also a member of Student Congress. Cole is very active in the Alden community. During the ECIC’s tournament, wrestler Ethan Hutchenreutter suffered a concussion and a spinal contusion. While Ethan was wrestling, his opponent slammed him on his head. The injury could have been a lot worse as it could’ve lead to paralysis. From the WACS News team, we are happy Ethan is making progress and getting better. We wish the best for him and wish for a speedy recovery. All the wrestlers are glad Ethan is doing better and happy the injury wasn’t worse. Overall, in ECIC’s everyone showed a lot of effort. With many leaders like Sophomore Cole, Ben, and Senior Danielle Stanley, the upcoming wrestling team should be prepared and ready to wrestle for the upcoming seasons. With the upcoming matches, most wrestlers hope to start a win streak for the rest of the season. Many wrestlers are coming back next year, hoping to be better than ever.
