In early May, the Alden High School varsity baseball team began practicing and is close to starting its season.

The team began practice on May 3. For the team and the coaches, this is a big step because in the beginning of the year they were unsure if they’d have a season. The team looks new due to the sophomores from last year being juniors and starting to play on the varsity team.

Alden Varsity coach Joe Olaf said he was “very excited” for this new season and ready to see the boys be able to form new friendships and develop camaraderie.

“I’m excited to get back out there with the guys and I’m excited to see the camaraderie build between the team and those friendships and bonds built throughout the year,” Olaf said.

Varsity player Bobby Kersten said, “I expect it to be a really good season with a lot of wins. It’s definitely going to be a little weird this year because our seasons only six weeks.”

He also said he hopes to go at least 8-4 because he believes they have a strong team this year.
