Bills Season Overview: A Roller Coaster of Emotions

Although the 22-23 Buffalo Bills season did not end the way we wanted it to, we can’t say this will be a season that we can easily forget.

AHS student David Earsing spoke about how the Bills were able to stay so good in a season complicated by so many lows, not just on the field but within the community. The defining moment of the season, he said, was the team’s “ability to deal with adversity.”

One thing we learned about the Bills this season is that they have the ability to persevere through anything with hard work and determination — whether it be the Tops shooting or the blizzard that Buffalo had this winter, Josh Allen getting injured in the game against the jets in week nine, or Damar Hamlin nearly dying on the field right in front of the players eyes. With events like this, it really does become more than just a game. It becomes more about the person underneath the pads than the player on the field.

“They know that we’re still here supporting them,” said AHS junior Enzo Riccione about what it must be like for the Bills to face all of these obstacles and still have to play football. We don’t know how they do it: How do they focus on the game with so much going on within the community?

That’s what separates the professional athletes from the amateurs: Their ability to focus on the game and tune everything out when you’re in the moment.
