Rutowski Releases Debut Album on iTunes

Sam Lewandowski, Lancaster HS

Jenna Rutowski, a Junior at Alden High School, anticipates the release of her first full album. The album entitled, “Of Guitar Strings and Pretty Things,” will soon be available on the popular online music store, iTunes. It is under the artist name of, “Tipping Cows,” which is her “stage name.”

Jenna does not know exactly where her love for music began. However, she believes her appreciation for music may have derived from watching her older brother play in his school band at a young age. The 17 year old songwriter can’t remember a time when she did not love music, stating “It’s weird to think about; me without music. It’s such a huge part of my life. I think we’ve always coexisted in a way.” Jenna has been playing piano since she was in first grade. Around this time, she wrote her very first song. The song was dedicated to a cousin of hers who was graduating from high school. She does not remember the title of the song, of if she even gave it one. Though, in her defense, she was only in primary school.

Jenna’s passion for music, combined with the support and encouragement from her family which she is so thankful for, pushed her to continue her songwriting. The inspiration behind her music is random. Once a riff or lyric pops into her head, she grabs her guitar and the magic ensues. Jenna’s favorite songwriter is Ed Sheeran, as she and he both share a love for acoustic sounds. Additionally, she can tell he loves what he does. Jenna plays 12 instruments, and in her free time, enjoys playing soccer.

Jenna is very excited about the release of her first album on iTunes, and believes it “feels like the beginning of the rest of my life.” Moreover, she encourages others who aspire to go into songwriting to follow their dreams. She believes that if you put your all into something, you will be successful.

To quote Jenna, “You’ve only got one life to live, so why not try to do something wild? You can do it, just keep trying. If it’s meant to be, it’ll be.” Due to the nature of the digital distribution process, the exact release date on iTunes is unknown. However, the album is currently available on Google Play, Spotify, and CDBaby. You should be able to find the album on iTunes this week.
