The annual budget vote of Alden Central Schools is quickly approaching. The vote will take place on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 in the Alden Central High School Cafeteria, beginning at 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. and voters will place votes by voting ballot or machine. The budget vote includes 4 propositions:

  1. Authorization to adopt the 2017-18 budget of $34,379,776. Projected Tax levy increase of 0%.
  2. Purchase of Buses
  3. Purchase of Building and Grounds Equipment
  4. Establish a Capital Reserve Fund

To gain a greater understanding of these propositions, and other aspects of the budget vote, you can go to the WACS News website and search “budget”. More of our reporters will give you information in great detail to help you gain a better understanding of the budget.

If you’re are planning to vote but cannot make it to the Alden High School Cafeteria from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, then you may vote via absentee ballot. An absentee ballot is a ballot completed and typically mailed in advance of an election by a voter who is unable to be present at the polling place. If you cannot make it to the polling station you must obtain an absentee ballot application form from Tracy Roberts, district clerk. Once you’ve completed the application form, you are required to mail it to the district clerk at least 7 days prior to the election if the ballot is picked up by the voter at the District office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Absentee ballots must be handed in to the clerk of the board no later than 5 p.m. on election day. Any absentee ballots not handed in before 5 p.m. will not be counted. For more information, contact Tracy Rodgers at (716) 937-9116, ext. 4171.
