Boys Track and Field Beats Rival East Aurora

Conrad Boucher, Sports/News Reporter

The Alden Boys Track and Field team has had an outstanding season so far. Every year the team is in competition for the division title with East Aurora. East Aurora has a very strong distance team that is almost unstoppable, and helps carry their team to divisional titles year after year.

This year the Bulldogs were prepared for their tough competition against the 3 time reigning division title holders. The Bulldogs knew that the East Aurora team would win most of the distance events from the 4x8oom, the 800m, the 1600m, and the 3200m, but that did not stop the Bulldogs from giving it their all. Junior Josh Jeziorksi knew that he had to run the race of his life in order to place in the 800m. Josh gave it his all and took first place with a time of 2:05 giving the bulldogs a good lead on the Blue Devils.

Many crucial points also came from the Bulldogs sprinting and jumping teams. Alden was able to sweep the 200m while getting 1st and 2nd in the 100m. The Bulldogs also swept long jump and took 1st and 3rd in triple jump. The pole vaulters were also able to sweep the Blue Devils getting needed points for the meet.

Last year the Alden Bulldogs Boys Track Team lost the division title to East Aurora by 1 point, but this year was a completely different story with the Bulldogs crushing the Blue Devils to easily take the division this year. The Bulldogs have not won the division since 2014 because East Aurora has won it the last three years, but the division title is gladly back in the hands of the Alden Bulldogs.

After winning the division title, many of the Alden Bulldogs are now looking forward to ECICs, Sectionals, and for some, event States. Good luck to all the boys and girls still competing in these next couple weeks and from all of us here at WACS News we wish you the best of luck!
