‘Airline’ Set to Land at Alden HS

Zach Bennett, Producer

Alden High School’s production of the Airline takes off in just a few days! The comedy written by Tim Kelly tells the tale of a family, a struggling movie producer and his staff, a flight crew, and an assortment of passengers with crazy stories. Their separate storylines come together aboard the worst Airline in the world, ‘Go Bananas’.

Airline is a tale of several lovely stewardesses (Carolyn Freeman, Sam Bizub, Amelia Kelly, and Erin Matthewson) whose boss, Smiling Jack Pott (Matt Robertson), is using the flight as their ’final exam.’ Movie producer Bozo Savoy (Zach Bennett) will do almost anything to stop his leading lady (Julie Bizub) from boarding the flight, and the Dragbottom family (Sara Hahn, Hannah Whiteford, and Alyssa Sigurdson) is concerned that Mr. Dragbottom (Sam Hopcia) has been planning to hijack the plane.  The day is (sort of) saved by a guy who thinks he’s a super hero (James Farrell), an eccentric billionaire (Justin Mason), a rock star (Yuria Tani), hijackers (Tim Hinsken), incense-selling mystics (Bri Frost, Riley Stutzman, Adeline Vogt) and a dancer with three feet (Ray Tryka).  Then it’s ’all aboard’ for these and a large assortment of additional oddball characters for an insane flight through a terrible storm.  No radar, no navigator and the pilots (Saige Carlson and Paige Jegierski) sold the compass at a garage sale thinking it was an egg timer.  The control tower (Alyssa Tyczka and Gretchen Czelusta) is bedlam, but eventually the flying tin can is brought safely to solid ground, except for the movie star who lands via parachute in a chicken farm.

New this year, the Alden CSD theatre team has introduced ‘Scholarship Seats’ for a slight upcharge and are located in the first few rows of the auditorium. The additional money from the purchase goes towards scholarships that will be awarded each year to graduating seniors. You can purchase your tickets online at aldenschools.org/boxoffice , print them out, and bring them with you to the show. Airline opens November 15th at 7pm and will run November 16th and 17th at 7pm with a Saturday matinee at 2pm.
