To kick off the 2022-23 school year, I decided to head to the halls and dive into how students are feeling.

With a year of big changes ahead, students are excited, opinionated and maybe even a bit confused. I filmed the interviews on the second day to make sure their opinions were fresh. This video features seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen.

Students shared what they’re looking forward to, reflected on what’s different and talked about how it feels to be back.

As usual, responses were all over the place. Later, I asked for their opinions on the districtwide new start times and the high school’s new lockers.

“The rules might be a bit stricter but it’s good that everything’s back to normal,” said Junior Michelle Nuwer. Overall, students seemed to be on the same page: This year feels like a typical school year again.
