WACS Weekly Ep. 16
A transcript of this week’s episode of WACS Weekly:
Hello and welcome back to WACS Weekly! I’m your host Anthony Kudla and let’s get into the news!
First up the girls basketball team took a big win against Tonawanda last Thursday on their senior night. A big shoutout to our senior athletes Cassidy Bauer, Emma Koch, Emily Phillips, Kendall Shadle, and Desi Zielinski. The team also continued their winning ways Tuesday night defeating Cleve Hill with a score of 55-24. Way to go girls!
We also have another round of seniors to congratulate from the Rifle team. Shoutout to Chance Fulle, Savannah Hyna, Eryn Kozlowski, and Jordan Strasser for helping qualify for team sectionals on their senior night.
If you’re looking for something to do this weekend head out to North Town Ice Rink to cheer on the Iroquois Alden Hockey team on Sunday at 3 p.m. as they take on Starpoint. It’ll be a game you won’t want to miss. Good luck boys!
Speaking of hockey, did you know some of our very own Alden athletes are a part of a girl’s hockey team as well? WACS reporter Michelle Nuwer got the inside scoop on the team. Take a look!

Valentine’s Day is coming up! How can you tell? Because the annual NHS carnation sale is happening in all lunches. Buy a flower for a friend, teacher, or that special someone in your life, and write a note to go along with it. These will be delivered to the recipients’ first block classrooms on Feb. 14. It only takes $2 to make someone’s day.
If you’re looking to give that special someone a little more this Valentine’s Day, check out Bulldog Manufacturing Valentine’s Day sale going on now until Feb. 10. Get your customized tumblers, picture frames, and keychains that can be engraved with your own handwritten message. If you buy $25 worth of items from our sale, you get a FREE pair of heart earrings! Don’t delay, get yours today!
Here at WACS Weekly, we’re all for healthy living so we’ve partnered with the Alden Substance Abuse Coalition to give you a quick health fact each week. Let’s see what we got today.
“As a teen, your brain is still developing making you more vulnerable to nicotine.” So as Mr. Foss would say, “Be careful out there!”
Speaking of the coalition, we’d like to shed some light on our Youth Ambassadors who recently traveled to Washington D.C. for the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America Convention. On their trip, they learned effective ways to help make our community safer. How lucky are we to have these young leaders representing our Alden coalition!
Juniors, listen up! The guidance office will be taking a field trip to the National College Fair at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center in March. Space is limited, so stop in guidance to sign up today.
Did you hear the Alden Family Center had their grand opening on Monday? Stop by the center located next to the main office of the Alden Middle School to check it out and browse their resources.
Are you bored sitting in advisement? Well, mark your calendar on Feb. 16 during advisement for Friends of Rachel’s Random Acts of Kindness Scavenger Hunt. All students are welcome to join in on the fun. There will be a celebration of everyone’s kind deeds following the scavenger hunt so make sure to come to Mrs. Tanner’s room (108) at the start of advisement next Thursday.
Alright, that’s the news, and this is Kuds. Bulldogs out!
