Alden Middle School Poetry Showcase
Creativity fills the halls of the Alden Central School District. I added soundscapes and visuals to poems written by students at Alden to show them off in a video format.
Here are the poems chosen to be in the video, all of which are by Alden Middle School students:
If Hope Could Be a Color
By Rebecca Vink
It would be pink
As bright as a rhododendron
If hope could be a taste
It would taste sweet and juicy like a peach
If hope could be a smell
It would smell as fresh as the outdoors
If hope could be a sound
It would be like birds singing on a bright summer morning
If hope could be a feeling
It would be wonderful as the feeling when you accomplished something important
If hope could be an animal
It would be an owl giving us wisdom
Mr. Lost Sock
By Chloe Frost
Oh Mr. Lost Sock
Where could you be?
Behind the washing machine?
You were my favorite sock.
I wore you to the gym
And out in the mud.
Did my ferrets take you?
Or did my mom put you in the trash?
Oh Mr. Lost Sock,
Where could you be?
Storm
By Haley Lewandowski
Thunder crackles! And lightning flashes!
Leaves whirling in the wind!
Rain pours! And the grass sways in the wind!
Umbrellas blown away!
The sun is gone. A blur of rain and wind are left!
THUNDER!
Hope is Green
By Abigail Lewis
If hope could be a color
It would be green,
As quiet as a forest.
If hope could be a taste
It would taste just like calming mint tea,
That makes me forget all about my worries.
If hope could be a smell
It would be the joyful smell of freshly baked bread.
If hope could be a sound
It would sound like the tweeting of birds,
When I wake up welcoming me to the day.
If hope could be a feeling
It would feel like drinking a hot drink warming your soul.
If hope could be an animal
It would be my cat sitting with me with lots of love.
