And the winners of the 2023 Badminton Tournament are … Mr. Casillo and Mr. Carll!

If you haven’t heard, hearts were broken once again when Team Heartbreakers, with players Mr. Casillo and Mr. Carll, won the tournament for the 6th year in a row. WACS got an inside look at the journey the team took through the tournament.

The team started off with a bye for the first round and then faced off against team BBES, who gave them their first win of the tournament with a score of 10-4. This was the first of many wins for the team.

“I’m hyped, yes, and nervous at the same time,” Mr. Casillo said before the tournament.

Finally, after five difficult games, the Heartbreakers made it to the championship game for a rematch against Matt Cole and Colin Bolles’ team, The Drowners. After a hard-fought battle, the Heartbreakers were once again victorious with a score of 20-11.

“It’s not about winning or losing,” Mr. Carll said in the post-game interview.

The Heartbreakers are still looking for someone who can beat them. They’re not retiring anytime soon, so if you’re thinking of challenging them next year, you better start practicing now!
