Over at the middle school, throughout October any student could donate to people in need through a fundraiser called Socktober. Donating can cause a chain reaction in a school and a community.
Socktober is a donation project where you donate socks, hats and other articles of clothing. Mrs. Laraba in the middle school oversees this project. Donating items liker socks shows you care for other people who may be in different situation. There was a donation challenge for each homeroom which will award the winning class with a reward, in an attempt to get more students to donate.
“The people that need things to stay warm for the winter, that’s what we’re donating,” said 6th-grader Olivia Winling. “We’re donating hats, and socks and mittens so it helps people who cant afford their own stuff.”
The students realize that people need things that can’t always afford and understand that their donations can be life-changing for some people.
