11th Annual Alden 5k Race and Taste of Alden
May 6, 2016
The annual Alden 5k Scholarship race will be coming up on June 3rd at 6:30pm at the high school. The 5k race is an annual event that the Alden Scholarship Foundation puts on to raise funds for scholarships awarded to local students. This has been a fun event for the community that brings people out to have fun and raise money for a good cause.
The race starts out front of the high school and starts with a straight shot down Park Street. At Westcott Ave, the race takes a right, then another right at Irving where it goes until Emerson making another right. After a short dash it makes a left back on Broadway where the race works its way back into the park and makes a right on West Main. You work your way down West Main until you reach Meadow Drive, where you cut right and loop around on to Willow Woods and take another left on Main. There you make the home stretch down back into the park where the finish line is in front of the kiddie pool.
After that tiring 3.1 mile run you can relax at the after party and enjoy live music from Six Degrees of Freedom. This year the 5k will also play host to the annual Taste of Alden. Restaurants from across Alden will be there to showcase food from their menus. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and Chinese auction and for the kids there will be a carnival zone, so there’s something for the whole family. Come out June 3rd and bring your running shoes to support the scholarship foundation and have a great time.
