Brooke also batted 3 for 4 against Tonawanda and has a batting average over .450 on the season. She has a career 10 wins, 2 saves, and 0 losses as a varsity second-year pitcher. Brooke is a proven leader and is well deserving of the Athlete of the Week award.
Leyton has picked up right where he left off at the end of his junior season on the Varsity Track and Field Team. The explosive senior sits atop Section VI small schools for shot putting. This human cannon had an outstanding week to open the season. Taking first place out of 42 throwers at the Alexander Trojan Invitational, Miner chucked a personal record 49’ throw. He followed up that performance by taking first place at the Depew dual meet on Tuesday, April 19th. The next closest throw was almost five feet shorter. At the inaugural Niagara Falls Invitational on Saturday, April 23rd, Miner went toe-to-toe with 25 throwers from the largest schools in the section. His first place throw was more than a foot better than the runner-up. Leyton was selected as a captain this year and continues to lead his teammates. His character and work ethic make him an indispensable member of the Alden Track and Field team.
