In an unusual turn of events, construction has ceased on the new Verizon Wireless building in the Tractor Supply Co. Plaza in the Village of Alden. Our team reached out to the the development company to inquire what led to the hold up. The building was gutted and rebuilt following a fire last Summer.

As with most major developments in Alden, the rumor mill was spinning at full force as residents wondered what would occupy the new space. At one point during reconstruction, it was rumored a KFC location, a larger Tim Hortons, and a Coffee Culture were moving into the former McDonalds plot. Village officials confirmed later that the location formerly leased by Verizon retailer ‘The Cellular Connection” would re-open as an official Verizon Wireless location. However, recently construction has halted as plans seem to have shifted

Executives from Redstone Development revealed to WACS News that Verizon suddenly forfeited their lease citing errors in their original demographic research. Our team inquired about the space and received this response:

We can confirm that Verizon has forfeited their lease with us upon completion of basic construction and installation of the new LED Verizon sign. Luckily, we weren’t too far into construction to change the concept. With the basic footprint of the new storefront complete, our team was contacted by the owners of Mighty Taco who proposed a slight adaptation that would allow them to open a restaurant in that same location. We look forward to a great partnership with the Mighty Taco team and wish them great success in the Alden community

Upon recent observation of the location, the inside is in fact, a blank canvas. A source close with the village confirms that construction will continue within the next few weeks to have the latest Mighty Taco location open by the start of Summer 2017.  This would be Mighty Taco’s 24th location
