Dear Abby / Getting a job
April 5, 2017
Dear Abby,
My parents have been bugging me about getting a job. I’m in my junior year of high school and I haven’t found a job I really am interested yet. I also want to work close to home since I can’t drive. I don’t know what to do, please help.
Sincerely,
WORRIED
Dear WORRIED,
Working in high school is definitely a very big responsibility. Especially when trying to balance sports, clubs, any social life, and grades along with work. Even if your parents are bothering you, remember that you have to have balance in life. Talk to them about how you think work may affect your life in good and bad ways. Make sure work isn’t going to take up all of your time. Also, have a talk about the transportation aspect. That needs to be decided before you apply to prevent getting the job and having no way of getting there. Also make sure you will enjoy your job, don’t just get one to have one. Good luck and have fun.
Sincerely,
Abby
