Baseball Beats Maryvale

Bats get to work in late Bulldog rally…

The Alden Baseball team has had a good start to the season thus far. This past Saturday the boys traveled to Maryvale and got a big win over the Flyers. The Bulldogs had excellent play from all around the diamond on Saturday in the win. Tommy Bednarski has once again proven his worth to the Bulldogs’ success. Tommy pitched for 6 innings on Saturday and got 9 strikeouts to help Alden outlast Maryvale. During the 6th inning the Bulldogs let Maryville catch a lead leaving a narrow window for them to earn the win.

Tommy Bednarski, Tim Pellittieri, Adam Wood, and J.J. Foster all had key hits to help the Bulldogs rally to a 7-5 win. Lucas Jurek, a sophomore that was recently pulled up, proved his spot on the team with a key hit to help the Bulldog rally. With all of the Bulldogs’ success on the plate in the seventh inning they were able to score 5 runs in the top of the 7th to finally gain the lead against Maryvale. Nathan Reger came in to finish the game in the bottom of the seventh inning. Reger was able to get the last three outs and secure the win.

Also contributing were seniors Josh Chester and Bobby Meyer.  Meyer plays first base and played a key part in getting the big divisional win against Maryviale. Josh chester played another key role at the plate for the Bulldogs, going 3-4 on the day.

This win put Alden’s record at 3-1 in the division.
