Alden’s Theatre Club is just a week away from producing Seussical for the very first time at Alden High School! High School students, and even a couple 4th grade students, have been hard at work in Tech & Dress Rehearsals this week after hosting a successful Green Eggs & Ham Brunch event last weekend for the community.

Seussical is fun for the whole family including the young and young-at-heart! The show combines the stories of 14 different Dr. Seuss tales and transports the audience to the Circus McGurkus, through the invisible world of the “Whos” and right into the Jungle of Nool. The Cat in the Hat (Tim Hinsken) tells the story of Horton (Zach Bennett), an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo (Sam Syracuse), a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird (Lily Hart). Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz (Brooke Meyer) never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.

Seussical will be performed at Alden High School on February 8th, 9th, and 10th at 7pm and there is also a matinee performance on Saturday the 10th at 2pm. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the show. Senior Citizen and Veteran discounts are available at the door only. All others are encouraged to skip the line and buy online at aldenschools.org/boxoffice.
