Aladdin Jr. Opens Tomorrow!
February 28, 2018
Disney’s Aladdin Jr. opens this week at Alden Middle School! I visited the set of this production to get a quick preview before the performance. For the past few months the cast and crew have transformed the Middle School stage into the great city of Agraba. The story of Aladdin is a Disney classic where the main character tries to be someone he is not but at the end realizes that being himself is what everyone loves. Playing the role of ‘Aladdin’ will be Kyle Urban, an 8th grader who has major talent in his first production. Also, playing ‘Jasmine’ will be Aubrey Matthewson, 8th grade. I interviewed both of them to talk about the show and their pursuit of theatre. Director Mrs. Tryka also added that the show will include fog, lights, tap dancing and acrobatic dancing and have performances from the fifth grade chorus as well. The ensemble also seemed very excited for the show.
Joining the director team is Ms. Jill Olka (Asst. Director), Mrs. Amy Sheehan (Costume Director), and Mrs. Jodi Rospierski (Technical Director).
The show opens Thursday, March 1st, at 7pm. There will also be performances Friday, March 2nd and Saturday, March 3rd at 7 p.m. There is also a matinee show on Saturday. Come out to the middle school this weekend to support this fun-filled Disney classic! Tickets are available at aldenschools.org/boxoffice

I remember just being in the show gave me such a good experience and now looking at all the hard work all of us had put into this is just astounding. I was so glad to be apart of it and i will miss my cast and crew dearly. I am also so glad of how the video shows how much everyone put into this and soon got out of it.
