Wilson Competes in Mock Trial at UB
March 19, 2018
This week I interviewed Alden High School senior Kerri Wilson about her trip to the University of Buffalo for mock trial. On January 17, 2018 Kerri had visited the university for a mock trial competition. Mock trial is an act or imitation trial. Attorneys preparing for a real trial might use a mock trial consisting of volunteers as role players to test theories or experiment with each other. Kerri is enrolled in the legal academy at Canisius through Erie One BOCES.
When Kerri competed in January, her case was regarding drugs. In the interview Kerri talked more about the case she was involved in for the trial. Many of the people who had attended this were given different roles participate to ultimately determine if the defendant is guilty or not. Kerri and many other students from the area get involved with this program with the hope that it will help prepare them as the future attorneys of the world. This is such a great opportunity to get this real–world experience in the field of law just before going into college.
