Aleksandr Chwesik is a sophomore at Alden High School who keeps busy with baseball and golf. “This is my first year in WACS,” he says, and you may have even seen him on the morning announcements.
Aleksandr’s main focus is baseball, and he hopes to continue playing after high school. “If that doesn’t work out, maybe forensic detective,” he adds with a laugh. On the golf team, he’s not in the top eight, but he still enjoys competing. Outside of sports, he likes riding his dirt bike and spending time with his sister, Alana, a ninth grader, and his dog, Bentley, a spirited Yorkshire Terrier.
When asked about a fun talent, Aleksandr admits, “I can whistle with my mouth closed… though I can’t do it on the spot — it just comes naturally.” He also says he would love to switch places with Aaron Judge for a day, calling him “one of the best baseball players as of right now.”
Looking back, Aleksandr is most proud of how far he’s come in baseball, from improving his skills to earning college offers. “I’m surprised at myself,” he says, smiling.
