Emma Casillo, a sophomore at Alden High School, is making her mark both in the classroom and on the field. As a talented athlete, she excels in soccer, basketball, and track, bringing her best to each sport she plays. “Out of all three sports I play, I like soccer the best because I’ve played it the longest, and I just love it,” Emma shares. Her passion for the game is evident, and being one of the few sophomores on the varsity team allows her to connect with upperclassmen and grow as an athlete.

Emma is excited about the upcoming Powerpuff season and is confident in her team’s chances. “I think this year in Powerpuff, our team is definitely going to win because the sophomores and juniors have a lot of good athletes who I think will do good,” she says, showing her competitive spirit and optimism.

Transitioning to a new school presented its challenges, but it also offered exciting opportunities. Emma reflects, “It was exciting to move to a new school because I got to meet a lot of new people and make a lot of new friends. But it was challenging not knowing anyone and needing to meet a lot of new people.” Despite the initial hurdles, Emma has embraced her new environment and continues to make the most of her high school experience.

Outside of sports, Emma enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family. She fondly recalls, “When I get home and I see my sister, she always makes me laugh, and it’s a lot of fun.” Her favorite spot for a special meal is Russell’s, a restaurant known for its delicious steak. “We don’t go here often because it’s like a fancy place, but I love Russell’s because it has the best steak and it’s so delicious,” Emma says.

Looking ahead, Emma has big plans for the future. She hopes to attend college and is particularly interested in the Disney College Program, which she describes as a “lot of fun.” One of her most cherished memories is her first visit to Disney World, which she says, “changed my life, and now I want to go back.”

Emma’s advice for fellow students? “Join a lot of clubs and be involved in the school because it helps you meet a lot of new people.” With her dedication to athletics, academics, and school involvement, Emma Casillo is definitely a name to watch at Alden High School.
