Jade Sivertson is a senior at Alden High School who loves reading, listening to music, and spending time with friends. “When I’m driving, I like to blast music in my car and have a little karaoke session,” she says with a laugh.
Looking ahead, Jade hopes to become a cardiothoracic surgeon or specialize in another area of surgery. Beyond her future career, she also dreams of being married or engaged by the age of 27.
Jade is involved in several school clubs, including Model UN, Student Congress, and stage crew for theater. “I chose Model UN because I loved going to conferences and being part of the club. Student Congress lets me be a leader, and stage crew became a second family for me after my first musical, The Addams Family,” she explains.
She appreciates how welcoming and supportive her school community is. “Everyone is so willing to help each other,” Jade says. “Even for food drives, people will donate without even knowing the details — they just want to help.”
When it comes to favorite classes and experiences, Jade enjoys physics for its challenging labs and engaging content, and she highlights teachers like Ms. Williams, Mr. Domino, and Ms. Campbell as especially supportive throughout her years. Her favorite school events? The dances, especially prom, along with Model UN conferences and volunteering for Huddle for Hunger.
For upcoming seniors, Jade has simple but important advice: “Don’t procrastinate. College applications, teacher recommendations, deadlines — get on top of them early because it can get really stressful if you wait too long.”
