Basketball is quickly approaching here at Alden High School. Soon our teams will be tipping off for their first games.  With both the girls and the boys’ teams having high expectations for this upcoming season, I had the chance to talk to players from both teams. Allie Petschke and Johnny Watson talked about their hopes for the upcoming season and what they are looking forward to. The varsity boys team is coached by Tim Stone and the varsity girls team is coached by Lance Cayea. The boys’ JV team is coached by Joe Olaf and the JV girls team is coached by Jeffery Kryszczuk. The varsity boys had a very young team last year filled with juniors, sophomores, and even some freshman. They will be looking to build off of last season’s developed chemistry and have a successful season. The girls’ varsity team will also be looking to build from last years’ successful season. Official tryout dates along with official tryout times will be posted on the Alden School’s athletics website. Make sure you are registered to play in Family ID (found on the school’s webpage) and have your physical turned in before the season if you haven’t already. Hope to see you on the court soon.
