WACS is Back Bigger and Better

Max Northem, Reporter

WACS News is back, bigger, and better than ever before. After a year of down time, the news station here at Alden Central High is back. Over the course of the last year, the studio underwent a series of upgrades. In addition to studio upgrades, the production room has been completely redone, complete with brand new sets, equipment and much more. There are many different areas in this new studio; there is the “lounge” area, which is used for interviews and maybe talk shows in the future. Also there is the green screen area for digital screenings. Another area in the room is the reporter’s desk area with 17 new iMacs for story writing and video editing; also there are iPads at every desk for the reporters to get footage on the go. And last but not least there is the anchors’ desk area for recording the news for the Alden community. Some may recall last year’s school newspaper, The Bulldog.  The concept of bringing Alden centered news is still at the forefront, the new model adds much more depth and scope.

Students can fill several different roles within the new scheme.  Students may find themselves as anchors, film crew members, reporters, or writers. The general feeling throughout the class is one of excitement. WACS is committed to bringing breaking and relevant news to the Alden community.
