Something new is happening at Alden Intermediate School: a brand-new outdoor learning space. What originally became an idea during the restrictive Covid-19 pandemic has blossomed into an amazing outdoor space.
“The students love to come out to the fresh air and it helps them be creative,” said Mrs. Mooney, a 4th grade teacher at Alden Intermediate.
Situated outside the intermediate school gym there are tables, plants, painted rocks, and other great things. Students can read, relax, and have fun with their friends. This gives them the opportunity to focus but still be able to enjoy nature. We also personally asked students what they liked about the classroom a majority said the colorful rocks that were painted by girl scout troop #31905.
“Right away it became a common place that kids and teachers use,” explained Mr. Mikulski, Alden Intermediate’s Principal.
Keep your eyes peeled for new editions and updates to the outdoor classroom that we hope makes an impact and evolves with every new class that enters it.
