Juniors and seniors have a lot on their plates. So, where are they supposed to fit in researching colleges? What are the right questions to ask regarding such an important life decision? There’s no one better to ask than Mrs. Hake and Mrs. Delzer, Alden High School’s guidance counselors, and Emily Trotman, an admissions counselor from St. John Fisher University.
These college experts provide students with vital information about what questions to ask to ensure a college is right for them. This fall season is the perfect time for students to start meeting with college representatives as they frequently visit our guidance office.
“This is your experience, we’re just here to give you information. It shouldn’t be scary or anything like that,” said Emily Trotman, a St. John Fisher representative. “Just be excited about the experience.”
Alden’s guidance counselors and Trotman not only provide knowledge on the beginnings of your college search, but how to set your application apart once you find the right college for you.
“It’s about quality, not quantity. We tell the kids that all the time,” said AHS guidance counselor Amy Delzer. “It’s not about being in a list of twelve different clubs and you just attended the meetings every month. It’s about making a difference in those clubs. That’s what you need to be able to say in your college application.”
