As graduation approaches, seven Alden High School seniors shared their thoughts on continuing their athletic careers at various colleges. Each athlete expressed excitement and anticipation for the challenges ahead, with many highlighting the strong bonds and memories they will miss from high school sports.
Senior Brooke Bennett, eager to play soccer at Chatham University, said, “I’m most excited to meet new people and grow my knowledge in a new environment.” Another athlete, heading to Hobart College, feels prepared for the higher level of competition. “Alden has good competition, but I think Hobart will be even greater, and I’m ready for that.”
Davod Earsomg. a baseball player choosing Hilbert College over others, appreciated the guaranteed opportunity to play all four years. “I’ll miss the team bonding and knowing the team,” he reflected.
For another senior, Layne Jaworowicz, Cortland University’s unexpected invitation stood out. “I wasn’t really looking to go there, but the coaches reached out, and I loved everything about the campus and the team,” he shared. He feels ready for the collegiate level, having worked hard on his skills and conditioning.
The Brockport track team attracted Quinn Grover through a direct message from a coach. “The facilities were super nice, and that definitely persuaded my decision,” he noted. He’ll miss the high school sports atmosphere, especially basketball, which he won’t be continuing in college.
Finally, senior Edward Siegel expressed a mix of readiness and apprehension about the jump to collegiate football. “I need to get in the weight room more, but I’m excited to play,” he explained. He’ll miss the camaraderie of the locker room but looks forward to new experiences with his college team.
These seniors embody the spirit of Alden High School athletics, carrying forward lessons of teamwork, dedication, and perseverance as they embark on their next chapter.
