His message left a lasting impact, reminding students that they have the power to turn their passions into careers, no matter how unconventional.
“Y’all can turn anything into a career,” Kirkwood said, drawing laughter from the audience as he referenced the growing popularity of professional tag announcers. “That means the one thing that you specifically love, have a passion for in your heart, can be your career.”
Senior Skylar King reflected on the speech, saying, “His speech inspired me to reach for bigger goals and to not put my goals into a little box so I can achieve more. What I learned was the pledge that I will always put my mission first to achieve my goals. I will never accept defeat, so even if I fail, I will keep pursuing my goals, and I will never quit.”
Duncan Kirkwood’s visit left an unforgettable impression on Alden High School, motivating students to see beyond obstacles and pursue their goals with determination and confidence.
