The annual Alden Kiwanis Super Bowl Chicken BBQ is more than just a delicious way to kick off the big game—it’s a key fundraiser that supports scholarships and community initiatives. This year, Key Club President Corinne Bishop was among the many volunteers helping make the event a success.
“My favorite job to do is just work in the assembly line of assembling the meals,” Bishop shared. “My favorite part about volunteering is that I get to give back to my community, and I also just think it’s fun to spend time with my friends doing something good.”
Key Club, a student-led organization focused on community service, plays an important role in the event. Bishop emphasized how the funds raised through Kiwanis benefit the Alden community in numerous ways, including scholarships for students.
As Key Club looks ahead, Bishop encouraged more students to get involved. “A majority of our club is upperclassmen, and we just need more people in the coming years to keep volunteering for events,” she explained.
With events like the Super Bowl Chicken BBQ, Key Club members continue to make a positive impact, ensuring that service and community spirit remain strong in Alden for years to come.
