The Summer of 2016 will be a great one for Alden Central School as Mr. Kern will be embarking on a trip to the Moon as part of the T.I.S also known as the “Teachers in Space” program sponsored by NASA. Mr. Kern confirmed this to WACS News sources today, April 1st.

“Going to the Moon is the ultimate dream.  I remember when I first heard the song, Walking on the Moon by The Police. I knew if Sting was singing about it, then it must be significant.  At that moment, I made the decision that my ultimate life goal would be to take a trip to the Moon.  Dreams really can come true” said the overjoyed Kern.

Mr. Kern will be taking the rest of the year off following this week as he begins an intense training regimen. We were able to obtain a sneak peek of Mr. Kern in the space suit that he will wear during the mission.  ACS wishes our Teacher in Space the very best as he embarks on his journey.
