THIS FRIDAY: Skilled Trades and Manufacturing Career Day
April 6, 2016
Following the success of the STEAM Career Fair in November, the Skilled Trades and Manufacturing Career Day will be taking place on Friday April 8th from 10 am to 2 pm. Not only will there be displays in the technology wing, but also in the gymnasium. Mr. Turton confirms it will be the biggest Career Fair yet with multiple schools sending students to attend.
Here are a few aspects to look forward to:
- Wood shop/metal shop manufacturing demonstrations
- Skilled trades such as engineering, welding, carpentry, computer aided design, and many more
- Panel Discussions in the Innovation Lab
- Experienced guests that can answer questions about work environments, compensation, and a typical day on the job.
- Tables in the gym with information and displays on apprenticeships, student job opportunities, community and 4 year colleges
With prior teacher permission, students can attend the event during any block for any length of time as an in-house field trip. This is a great opportunity to discover the many possibilities during or after high school in a variety of career fields.

This was a great opportunity for graduating seniors that don’t know what they want to do after school and also other students that are just interested in the trades. Thank you to all of the businesses and unions for coming out.

This fair took place during school last Friday and was targeted to help students figure out what they want to do when they get older. Many booths came and many students attended. The only thing i disliked about it was that the fair was based more torwards wood works and technology and not enough in the medical field as well as other fields. What other schools attended other than Alden middle and High school?

I thought that the Skilled Trades and Manufacturing Career day was very interesting. I got to go and check out the different companies and colleges that were attending. I found some cool and interesting trades that I didn’t even know existed. It was an excellent and informative event.
