District Safety Week 4/25 – 4/28

Jill Peruzzi, Reporter

This week, students, teachers, and staff will be practicing multiple safety drills in order to prepare for a variety of emergency situations. Safety procedures are always being updated and revised in order to account for current events. There are Emergency Response Teams organized in each building and at the district level. These groups help with reviewing and developing these procedures as well as organizing safety week and drills throughout the year.

Fire drills, lockdowns, lockouts, shelter in place, bomb threats, and medical emergencies are just some of the maneuvers that couldĀ be performed throughout the week across the district. All of the drills will be treated as though they are real situations so that everyone knows exactly what to do. Students are advised to turn off their cell phones and listen carefully to directions from their instructors. Being familiar with the procedures will make it easier for everyone to remain calm in case of an actual emergency.
