VIDEO: Alden Intermediate’s Angel Tree
December 2, 2016
The Angel Tree was originally started in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1979. Every year a school in Alden takes on the Angel Tree. This year Alden Intermediate and Alden Middle School both took on the project. This is a very helpful and generous program. It helps families in need in the community have a fantastic Christmas. It also gives them the opportunity to receive their gifts from Santa.
This program has been carried throughout Alden for the past 15 years or possibly even more. Classes in the Intermediate school have been collecting bottles and cans in order to collect the money to purchase these families’ gifts. These gifts consist of clothes, games, puzzles, book and more. The students and faculty are very excited to be a part of the program this year.
A variety of the Alden students have the opportunity to donate for this program through a spirit week as the holidays get closer. This spirit week will include a blue and gold day, to honor our school colors, silly sock day, hat day, and pajama day. This is a very fun and exciting time of year for the Intermediate and Middle school. Alden’s Intermediate School principal, Mrs. Monacelli, was very open to giving me more information on this topic.
