With the upcoming Class of 2018 Alden Wall of Fame induction on its way, I got the chance to talk with the Co-Athletic Director of Alden, Mrs. Gauthier, on who the inductees are and what it the process to being on the Alden Wall of Fame.

The Class of 2018 inductees include Paul Skowron (Class of 1966), Camille Guiterrez (Blum) (Class of 2007), Ken Stoldt (Class of 1982), Maria Blum (Class of 2007), and Clair M. Traver (Coach). Paul Skowron was a three sport athlete playing football, wrestling, and track and field. He was a Division III All-Star in football from 1964-1966, the Division III, Section VI, Class A Champion in heavy weight class, and the Division III, Section VI, Class A runner-up in discus.

Camille Guiterrez was an accomplished athlete playing soccer, basketball, and track and field. Throughout her high school career, she earned a 13 Varsity letters, the Female Scholar Athlete award in 2007, and was a two-time Letterman Award Winner.

Ken Stoldt’s sports career with Alden includes playing football, basketball, and baseball in high school and later on coaching youth programs for football, basketball, and baseball. Stoldt is chairman of Section VI football and is on the Section VI finance committee.

Maria Blum’s athletic accomplishments come in playing basketball and softball. As a captain of both basketball and softball teams, she was also a second team All-Star ECIC Division VI for basketball and a three-time First Team in softball. In softball, Blum holds two New York State records for stolen base in a single season and playing three years of Varsity while only making one error.

Coach Traver is being recognized for coaching at Alden from 1977-2007. He coached a variety of sports from cheerleading, boys track, volleyball, basketball, JV softball, JV football, modified football, and JV boys soccer. His efforts in building student-athletes helped build Alden’s athletic program.

The induction took place on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 5:30 pm, in the High Schools Auditorium. Congratulations to all of this years inductees.
