Claire Whiteford is a 16-year-old junior at Alden High School, where she balances academics and sports. As a member of the varsity soccer team, she plays as a midfielder and sometimes as a striker. Claire also participates in hockey and track and field, showcasing her passion for athletics.
When asked about her favorite sport, Claire readily admits that hockey takes the top spot. “I love scoring goals and the atmosphere with my team,” she shares. Playing for the Casanova Chiefs, she looks up to NHL star Connor McDavid as her role model. One of her favorite hockey memories is scoring her first hat trick when she was 11, which solidified her love for the game.
Claire has dreams beyond sports, including a bucket list item of spending a summer in Greece. “The beaches are really nice, and I’ve heard the community is great,” she says, expressing her love for warm weather and travel. During homecoming season, she enjoys participating in Powderpuff.
When it comes to comfort food, Claire’s choice for her “death row meal” would be a Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich with extra sauce, a large Dr. Pepper, and a slice of cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. Looking ahead, Claire hopes to work for the FBI or CIA, focusing on criminal profiling. “In 10 years, I see myself in a career that makes a difference,” she says.
Overall, Claire Whiteford is a dedicated student-athlete with big dreams, balancing her love for sports and family while looking forward to her future.
