Varsity Volleyball’s Trip to Sub-Regionals

The girls Varsity Volleyball Team had an impressive season this year with a overall record of 19-3-1. Their playoff Journey started with 3 consecutive wins against teams such as Dunkirk, Fredonia, and Griffith Institute, giving them a chance to play Olean for the Class B Championship. The lady bulldogs then defeated Olean with a score of 3-1 to advance to a sub-regional game against Westhill.

Leading the team to this impressive playoff run is Senior Shelby Kerston with 280 kills and 37 digs, and Emma Wlostowski with 121 kills and 69 digs. The team is pulled together by strong communication between all the the players on the team. The team consists of Senior Shelby Kerston, Senior Emma Diebel, Senior Emma Lux, Senior Cora Matthewson, Senior Karlie Hake, Senior Taylor Grabowski, Junior Emma Wlostowski, Junior Miranda Frank, Junior Sydney Toczek, Junior Alexa Fegley, and Freshman Jenna Kerston.

The team had an impressive 86% winning percentage after starting the season off 1-1-1. With two regular season losses to Eden and a tie with Chautauqua Lake, team won its remaining regular season games against teams such as Tonawanda, Chautauqua Lake, Holland, Cleveland Hill, Olmsted, Lackawanna, Springville Griffith Institute, John F. Kennedy, and Iroquois.

The Girls had to play 4 games on their was to winning the Section 6 Class B Championships. The first two rounds being a 3-0 wins over Dunkirk and Fredonia. Next was Springville Griffith Institute who the girls defeated with a score of 3-1. Finally the lady Bulldogs captured the Championship with a 3-1 win over Olean. This win gave the girls a chance to play in sub-regionals against Westhill. Unfortunately, the girls impressive playoff run came to an end with Westhill defeating Alden with a score of 3-0. However, no one can take away what a successful season the Bulldogs had. Congratulations to all the members and coaches of the Varsity Girls Volleyball Team.
