Two weeks ago, the Alden High School robotics team formerly known as “The Cosmobots” changed their name to “The Blackwater Bots”. This change was a result of the older name having no connection to the Town of Alden. The new name, Blackwater Bots, relates to the famous Blackwater baths that are an important part of Alden’s history. The official release date of the change was April 19th, 2019. Their new logo looks something like this. In other news, the Alden robotics club recently opened a merchandise store to sell their rebranded shirts. Along with shirts they also sell bags, sweatpants, and sweatshirts among other things. on this website, you will also find Merchandise for our second team “The Alden Knights”.   Along with the name change they are also working diligently on their robot and they are also running an escape room for the Intermediate school fun night that was last week on Friday May 3rd. Last week they also attended an event called “Mayhem in May” this was at Riverworks in Buffalo, NY. During this event the Blackwater Bots placed 7th out of 7 teams total that was there and the Alden Knights placed 6th. The Alden Knights won a 3rd place alliance award because they were picked for the third-place winning alliance.  Even though the teams were in last place the event was not a failure as we still made useful business connections with the businesses and foundations that were there. Along with the two Alden teams there were other teams from Nichols school, Buffalo Science Academy and Eden High School.
