Watch Now: AHS Veterans Day Assembly Featuring Steve Banko
For the past 12 years, Alden High School has hosted a Veterans Day assembly to honor local veterans and provide students the opportunity to connect with the stories and lessons of past military conflicts and the people who fought in them.
The era of Covid-19 has not dampened the ambition of AHS leaders to create an event to celebrate veterans and their contributions to our community and country. This year, because social distancing guidelines prevented school leaders from holding their typical assembly, students worked to produce a video program that was screened four times throughout the day for the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes.

Veterans Day 2021 …
I just watched the production of Alden High and I wanted to express my pride and gratitude for being part of such a profound expression of pride and appreciation. Having served as communications director for Buffalo Mayor Tony Masiello, I am accustomed to being interviewed and to answering questions. The students from Alden did their school, themselves and all veterans proud with thoughtful questions.
Please know how grateful I am to have been part of such a fitting tribute to service and sacrifice. Congratulations to Colin Dabkowski and his students.
