HEY-EY-EY-EY! Coming off a fresh 1st place win with 600 donations and a visit from offensive lineman Dion Dawkins and tight end Dawson Knox, our bulldogs were pumped and ready to participate in the Huddle for Hunger food drive hosted by FeedMoreWNY and Wegmans again this year. The Alden High School’s Student Congress led by the Peer Wellness Pillar decided to use this opportunity to expand our efforts into the community.

During the weekend of 9/30-10/1, our student leaders held a food drive in the Alden Tops Parking Lot, collecting over 1000 donations. Alden High School and Student Congress would like to extend their gratitude for the Alden community and their generous donations, we couldn’t have done it without you.

“It’s centered around school spirit so it makes it more than just another can drive; it makes it really fun,” expressed Student Congress Peer Wellness Secretary Gowri DeMay.

“It brings kids together and gets us to be more creative,” explained Julie Hake, the advisor of the Peer Wellness Pillar. She feels that Huddle for Hunger gets students thinking in a positive way and makes the community more involved. “It’s important because it creates a sense of community, they do a nice job.”

In the end, Alden High School surpassed our goal and more than tripled our donations from the previous year to 2000 total for FeedMoreWNY. The students and faculty of Alden High School are proud to participate in this competition and more broadly support an amazing cause for Buffalo and Western NY. Our 9 student congress pillar officers attended the Bills vs. Buccaneers on 10/26 to be recognized on the field for their 2nd place win!

Stay tuned for what our bulldogs do next year and for future efforts by our school to benefit our community through our YouTube channel! Go Bills and Bulldogs!
