As the fall sports season wraps up at Alden High School, we bid farewell to three dedicated senior athletes: Corinne Bishop from volleyball, Nathan Mitchell from swimming, and Emily Sentz from cross country. Each has made a lasting impact on their teams and leaves behind a legacy of hard work, growth, and camaraderie.
For Corinne Bishop, volleyball has been more than just a sport; it’s been a passion and a way to bond with her teammates. “This is my favorite sport because it’s the only school sport I play,” Corinne shared. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue playing volleyball recreationally, joining club or intramural teams to stay active and make new friends. Her advice to underclassmen? “Bond with your team and have fun. The closer you are with your teammates, the better you’ll play.”
Nathan Mitchell has spent countless hours in the pool, and his commitment to swimming has paid off. “This is my favorite sport, and I’ve been doing it for quite a few years now,” he said. Nathan plans to continue swimming in college, carrying his love for the sport into the next chapter of his life. He encourages younger athletes to stay balanced: “Make sure to prioritize your academics alongside your sports. It’s all about finding the right mix.”
For Emily Sentz, cross country has been a journey of perseverance and personal growth. While she doesn’t plan to compete at the varsity level in college, Emily hopes to join a recreational cross-country team to stay connected to the sport she loves. Her advice for upcoming athletes is simple but meaningful: “Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Keep pushing—it’ll be worth it someday.”
Each of these seniors has not only excelled in their respective sports but has also exemplified the spirit of Alden athletics: teamwork, dedication, and a drive to improve. As they prepare to graduate and move on to new opportunities, their contributions to Alden High School will not be forgotten.
Thank you, Corinne, Nathan, and Emily, for your hard work and leadership. Best of luck in all your future endeavors!
