Alden High School’s beloved sports show, WACS Sports, is back for its third season with a brand-new lineup of hosts! Alivia, Addy, Emma, Brody, and Jon have taken the reins following the departure of last year’s hosts, Jack and Carter. With a revamped intro and fresh energy, the show is set to bring the latest in Alden athletics and beyond.
This week’s episode featured key updates on upcoming games. Varsity Boys Hockey faces Hamburg for Senior Night, while the Unified Bowling Team competes at Depew High School on Monday. JV and Varsity Basketball are set to play at Cleve Hill this Tuesday at home. Best of luck to all Bulldog athletes!
Brody and Jon hit the halls to test students on their Super Bowl knowledge. From guessing the team with the most titles to discussing the Ravens’ missed opportunity, the segment was filled with humorous and confident responses. Students also made their picks for Super Bowl MVP and halftime show performers, with Kendrick Lamar and SZA correctly named as this year’s headliners.
The episode also highlighted standout performances in Alden athletics. Claire Whiteford, a senior on the Lancaster Iroquois Depew Alden Girls Ice Hockey team, was recognized for her impressive leadership and scoring streak, earning her the title of Athlete of the Week. She was interviewed about her contributions on the ice and what it means to be named assistant captain. Meanwhile, swimmer Sam Farrell was praised by his coach, Nancy Bennett, for his dedication to the Bulldogs’ swim program. Sam has been a key competitor in multiple events, breaking records and leading his team to success. He shared his thoughts on his biggest accomplishments this season and the hard work that has led to his recognition.
With the return of WACS Sports, Alden athletes and fans can look forward to engaging coverage, entertaining segments, and in-depth interviews throughout the season. Stay tuned for more updates as the new team continues to build on the show’s legacy!
