This year, Alden bids farewell to two beloved softball coaches whose dedication has shaped not only athletes, but the spirit of the program itself. Varsity Softball Head Coach Kryszczuk and JV Softball Coach Gauthier are retiring, leaving behind a legacy of encouragement, leadership, and countless memories.
These two coaches have gone beyond the game—teaching teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship while building a tight-knit community. Players describe Coach Gauthier as firm but fiercely supportive. “At first I was scared of her,” one athlete admitted, “but I grew to love her. She’s amazing and I hope she knows how much we appreciate her.”
Coach Kryszczuk, often affectionately called “Coach Krysz,” is known for his uplifting spirit and iconic pre-game pep talks. “We gotta get out there, girls, and hit the gas,” he’d say, bringing a laugh and a burst of energy to the team. Players shared heartfelt stories, from receiving post-game cookies baked by his wife to pulling a hilarious April Fool’s prank that ended with him soft tossing to just one player after the whole team sneakily walked out.
“He’s joyful,” said one player simply. “He never raises his voice. He just believes in us.” That belief, coupled with his constant encouragement, created a space where athletes felt supported even after a rough game.
As they step away from the dugout, Coach Kryszczuk and Coach Gauthier leave behind more than just game stats—they leave behind confidence, camaraderie, and a generation of players better for having known them.
Thank you, Coach Krysz and Coach Gauthier.
