On Friday, April 22nd, the Alden H.S. chapter of the National Honor Society hosted the 2nd annual Senior Citizen’s Prom. The NHS has been planning this event since the beginning of the school year and all the members, including the recent inductees in the junior class, helped put it together. Club advisers Mrs. Chaves and Miss Ziegler and Superintendent Adam Stoltman spearheaded the event as well. The event occurred in the high school cafeteria and had a theme of a fun Hawaiian luau. Alden alumnus T.J. Northem and his company, Dependable Sounds, was the DJ, blasting fun throwback tunes.  Both the Alden Middle School and High School Jazz Bands performed a concert of classic jazz songs, under the direction of Mrs. Nye and Mr. Larrabee, respectively, that were familiar to the prom attendees. The dance floor was enjoyed by prom attendees and NHS participants equally, and most popular was the famous “twist.” Door prizes were also raffled off, including items donated by the H.S. Spanish Club, School Spirit Pillar, and Student Congress, to name a few.

The NHS chapter of Alden High School would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” the prom attendees, Alden community,  school band members, and door prize donators for making the 2nd Annual Senior Citizen’s Prom a success!
