Varsity Softball’s Huge Win Over Eden

Morgan Rutan, Reporter

The girls’ varsity softball team hosted Eden on Monday April 25. Every year Eden is the toughest team that the girls face. Going into the game the girls were excited and believed they could beat Eden. Warm ups went well as every player was focused and made every play. Eden arrived as Alden sat in their usual spot to watch the team warm up. Alden was very relaxed but was still very focused.

After Eden finished their warm ups the game started. The first inning was a simple one, two, three, as each team could not connect with the pitchers. Eden had scored one run and usually when Eden scored in the previous years Alden thought it was the end of the game. This year the girls kept their heads up and fired back harder.

As the bulldogs were up to bat Anne Kocher had an amazing bunt, which flustered Eden, to have a bad throw after the ball was fielded. As Sara Pasternack came to the plate her bat stayed hot just like in the pervious games, she hit in Anne and she also scored as well.

Eden had fell apart and never came back after Alden’s three runs. Laura Kratzke had out pitched Jill Murray, Eden’s pitcher. On defense Brittany Jordon and Alyssa Kozak made key plays to preserve the victory. The team took sole possession of 1st place with this huge victory and is ranked 1st place in small schools. The girls record is now 8 wins and 0 losses.

The team heads to Tonawanda today to pick up another win.
