Hard Fought Loss Against Eden Raiders

Hard Fought Loss Against Eden Raiders

Morgan Rutan, Reporter

The varsity softball team took the long ride to Eden on Wednesday to face their rivals. As the girls knew, Eden was going to fight as hard as they could to beat Alden. The previous game Alden had beaten Eden so the girls knew they could not go into the game without staring strong. As the team arrived Eden was practicing on their field getting ready for the game. It was their senior night and they also had a food truck that attracted many fans. Alden was focused and ready to play. As the girls took the field their warm up was intense and they looked like a team. During their talk before the game the most important thing that had been stressed was to start of strong as the bulldogs were up to bat first. The girls could not seem to adjust to Jill’s speed as it was an easy 1,2,3 outs. The girls took the field and Eden started off strong scoring 3 runs, which shook the Bulldogs. Innings past, the score remained 3-0. Going into the 6th inning the bulldogs went on a streak to tie the game up 3-3. Eden was up to bat and managed to get another two runs to take the lead. As the bulldogs stepped up to the plate again they knew that if they did not score two more runs the game would be over. The bulldogs had girls on base but couldn’t find a way to get the girls to score. Eden had came out on top. It was great fought game for both teams; both teams now have one loss. Alden finishes their season today with their last home game against Tonawanda. If Alden wins tonight they will be co-division champs with Eden. The season is not over as there is still a long road ahead of the girls to make it farther than last year.
