Third Division Title in Four Years for Varsity Softball Team

Morgan Rutan, Reporter

The varsity softball team secured the division for the third time in four years. Even though the team is co-champs with Eden, this is a huge achievement. The decider was when Alden beat Tonawanda 18-1. This was Alden’s senior night honoring the four seniors that will be graduating this year. Highlights from the game included a big effort from each of the seniors. Laura Kratzke pitched a three hitter, which raised her record to 10 wins and 2 losses on the season. On offense Alyssa Kozak had three key hits including a double, homerun and 5 RBI’s. Morgan Rutan went 3 for 5 at the plate, as Vicky Adkins was 2 for 4 with a double and a triple and Laura went 3 for 4. This game was not just a win by the seniors; the entire team played a roll in this victory. Everyone’s bats were on point as the first inning the girls were killing the ball. Once the girls were ahead they did not stop with the bats, continuing to score runs throughout the entire game. With the intensity the girls showed playoffs will not be a problem for the team. Play offs start Wednesday.
