Varsity Softball Team Excels In Sectionals

The Alden Varsity Softball team defeated Albion Friday at home with a score of 7 to 0. Alden’s defense played solid making heads-up plays all game. Alden stopped a rally in the 3rd inning when catcher Sara Pasternack threw out a runner at 2nd base while Brittany Jordon made the tag. On the mound Laura Kratzke tossed a 2 hitter and struck out 12 batters. Victoria Adkins led the offense; she went 2 for 3 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Jenna Wlostowski also went 2 for 3 at the plate while Laura Kratzke had a double and an RBI. Alden then traveled to face City Honors at McCarthy Park in Buffalo for the Semi Finals. The girls defeated City Honors with a score of 11- 0. Altogether the team had 12 hits, which were contributed by many of the girls. Big hitters were Victoria Adkins who was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Jenna Wlostowski went 3 for 4 with a double, a triple and 3 RBI’s. The defense played excellent making several great plays. Pitcher Laura Kratzke tossed a 2 hitter while striking out 11 batters. The bulldogs now have a record of 18 wins and 2 losses. Alden faces Depew in the B1 Championship game on Wednesday in Dunkirk.
